Track

This year there are 7 track members; Cody Cole, Allyson Carroll, Steven Salyers, Leva Bonsell, Jeremy Pardee, Clint Mrnak, Jason Johnston, and team manager Kelli Carroll.

            Most of the invitational track meets are held in Glendive because are schools have limited facilities.

The Bulldogs have really  started the season off right this year, with two track meets so far.

Their first meet was the Wibaux Invitational, where Steven Salyers placed 2^nd in the 200 meter, 1^st in the 400, and 1st in Javelin: Cody Cole came out with 3^rd in the 400, 1^st in the Long Jump, and 1^st in High Jump; Jeremy Pardee 6^th in 400 and 5th in Triple Jump; Clint Mrnak 3^rd in 1600 and 4^th in 3200; Allyson Carroll 3^rd in 400, 2^nd in 100 hurdles, 6^th in Long Jump, 1^st in Triple Jump.

On April 8^th the track team made the long trek to Bowman North Dakota. Cody, Jeremy, Clint, and Steven ran a hard race and placed 1^st in the 3,200 meter relay.  Steven took 4^th in the 1600, 2^nd the Javelin; Allyson placed 5^th in the 1,600, 2^nd in the Long Jump; Cody took 2^nd in the Triple Jump: Jason placed 8^th in the Javelin.

The Baker Invitational was held April 12^th.  Clint Mrnak placed 4^th in the 3200 and Cody Cole received 4^th in the Triple jump.

The next track meets are April 19^th in Beach North Dakota and April 22 in Bowman North Dakota.

            On April 19^th the track team traveled to Beach North Dakota. Killdeer received the most points, notching out at 120, for the boys. Ekalaka boys received 12 points. This is not too bad considering there are only 5 boys in track this year.  Steven Salyers placed 5^th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.44, 3^rd in the 400 with a time of 53.35, and 1^st in the long jump with 19-19 ½ feet. Clint Mrnak placed 5^th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:15.6, and 3^rd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:48.8. Cody Cole placed 2^nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:14.7, 6^th in high jump with a height of 5-2, and he placed 5^th triple jump with a length of 36-7 1/2 feet. Beulah notched 165 points for the girls and Ekalaka girls notched 8 points, which is also good because there are only two girls out for track. Allyson Carroll placed 2^nd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.67, 3^rd in long jump with a jump of 14-3, and 1^st in the triple jump with a jump of 30-9 feet.

            On April 27^th the track team traveled to Glendive to attend the Elks Meet. The boys’ team score was 12 points, and the girls’ team score was 6. Allyson Carroll placed 3rd in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.96. Steven Salyers placed 6^th with a time of 53.61, and 6^th in the long jump with 19-2 ¼. Cody Cole placed 7^th in the 800 with a time of 2:13.55. Clint Mrnak placed 8^th in the 3200 with a time of 1110.42. We would like to congratulate all of the athletes who made it to the Elks Meet. Good Job!!

            The Bulldogs traveled to Glendive, on Wednesday May 7^th, to participate in the District Track meet. The boys came in a second with 93 points, behind Wibaux who notched 122 points. Clint Mrnak placed 2^nd in the 3200 with a time of 11:24.98. Clint also place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:12.12, this time got him a 1^st place finish. Steven Salyers placed 1^st in the long jump with a jump of 18-8 1/2 , 1^st in the 400 meter run with a time of 52.81, 3^rd in the 100 meter run with a time of 11.83, and also 3^rd in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.82. Cody Cole placed 3^rd in the long jump with a jump of 18-1/2, 1^st in the high jump with a height of 5-6, 3^rd in the triple jump with a jump of 36-0, 2^nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.75, and 4^th in the 200 meter run with a time of 25.15. Jeremy Pardee placed 6^th in the triple jump with a jump of 33-5, but unfortunately this was not enough to make it to the divisional track meet.  The girls came in 5^th with 42 points, behind Jordan(4), Terry(3), Hysham(2), and Wibaux(1). Allyson Carroll placed 1^st in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.4 seconds, 3^rd in the long jump with a jump of 13-9 ½, 3^rd in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:05.09, 1^st in triple jump with a jump of 30-6 ½ , and 2^nd in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:06.11. Leva Bonsell placed 5^th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:54.90. Everyone participated and all of the athletes that placed 5^th and up moved on to the Divisional Track Meet in Billings.
