2009-2010 Girls Basketball Articles December 11, 2009 Ekalaka vs. Custer On November 23, 2009, Carter County girl’s basketball team started practice. This season there are 11 girls out: Iesha Dembo, Ami Markuson, Cecile Ketchum, Emma Guyer, Taylor Ruark, Jessica Cole, Marlee Nies, Marcell Bruski, Caitlin Dalzell, Emily Peabody, and Brittany Hansen. The team is coached by Tenadore Kittelman and Audrey Morgan. The first game of the season tipped off against the Custer Cougars in Ekalaka on December 11, 2009. The Lady Bulldogs were neck and neck with the Cougars the whole first half. After half, the girls came out with a bang and outscored the Lady Cougars in the third and fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Cougars 49-29. December 12, 2009 Ekalaka @ Melstone The next day the team traveled to Melstone to take on the Lady Broncs. The JV girls played a half game and unfortunately lost 10-8. The varsity girls played next. In the first half, the score was close. Unfortunately, the Lady Broncs outscored the Lady Bulldogs and won the game 42-32. December 15, 2009 Ekalaka @ Baker The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Baker to take on the Lady Spartans. The JV girls played a half game and beat the Lady Spartans. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong and outscored the Spartans in the first quarter. The game remained close until the third quarter when the Lady Spartans outscored the Lady Bulldogs. The fourth quarter remained close and intense but unfortunately the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t grab the lead and lost to the Spartans 40-30. December 19, 2009 Ekalaka vs. Broadus The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Broadus Lady Hawks. Both teams came out strong and the score remained close the first half. The Lady Hawks outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was very intense but unfortunately the Lady Bulldogs could not pull ahead and lost to the Lady Hawks 35-46. December 22, 2009 Ekalaka @ Plevna The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Plevna to take on the Lady Cougars before Christmas break. The Lady Bulldogs came out rocky and remained behind by two points at half. After half, the Lady Bulldogs came out strong and outscored the Cougars in the fourth quarter. The game was close until the last fe seconds of the game with the bulldogs leading with 6 seconds left and the Cougars scored to win the game by one point. The ending score of the game was 45-46. Iesha Dembo led with 16 points. Taylor Ruark followed behind with 15 points. Marlee Nies, Cecile Ketchum, and Brittany Hansen all had 4 points. Jessica Cole had 2 points. January 2, 2010 Ekalaka @ St.Labre The Lady Bulldogs traveled to St. Labre to play the Lady Braves. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong and outscored the Lady Braves the whole game. The girls brought in the new year with an easy win. They won the game 48-23. Iesha Dembo led with 13 points. Emma Guyer and Caitlin Dalzell followed right behind with 8 points. Taylor Ruark and Brittany Hansen both had 5 points. Marcell Bruski scored 4 points. Marlee Nies had 3 points. Ami Markuson scored 2 points. January 8, 2010 Ekalaka vs. Terry The Lady Bulldogs took on the Terry Terriers. The Lady dogs came out strong and were only down by 4 points in the first quarter. The first half of the game was very intense and at half the Lady bulldogs were only down by 5 points. The third quarter both teams held each other to only scoring 6 points. The fourth quarter the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Terriers. Unfortunately, after a well fought battle the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Terriers by 3 points. Iesha Dembo led with 19 points. Caitlin Dalzell followed with 12 points. Ami Markuson had 10 points. Emma Guyer scored 5 points. Marlee Nies had 2 points. January 9, 2010 Ekalaka @ Wibaux The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Wibaux to take on the Lady Longhorns. The Lady Bulldogs had a rough start and were down 18 points in the first quarter. The Lady Dogs held the Longhorns to only 5 points in the second quarter. The second half was a better ball game but the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Longhorns 37-52. Iesha Dembo had 14 points. Marlee Nies scored 10 points. Caitlin Dalzell rocked with 8 points. Marcell Bruski and Jessica Cole both had 2 points. Emma Guyer had 1 point. January 16, 2010 Ekalaka vs. Hysham The Lady Bulldogs played the Hysham Lady Pirates at home. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong outscoring the Pirates the whole first half. The Lady Bulldogs kept up the good work after half and easily won the ball game 59-37. Iesha Dembo-19 points. Marlee Nies-15 points. Cecile Ketchum- 6 points. Caitlin Dalzell-7 points. Emily Peabody-4 points. Emma Guyer- 3 points. Brittany Hansen- 3 points. Ami Markuson- 2 points. January 22, 2010 Ekalaka vs. Baker The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Baker Spartans. The Spartans came out strong and had an early lead on the Bulldogs. In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs came out strong but the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Spartans 37-45. Marlee Nies led with 11 points. Caitlin Dalzell- 10 points. Iesha Dembo and Marcell Bruski - 5points. Ami Markuson- 4 points. Emma Guyer- 2 points.
January 29, 2010 Ekalaka vs. Plevna The Lady Bulldogs played the PLevna Lady Cougars at home. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong outscoring the Courgars the whole first half. In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs kept a steady lead winning the basketball game 47-32. Iesha Dembo- 18 points. Brittany Hansen- 9 points. Marlee Nies and Caitlin Dalzell- 6 points. Cele Ketchum- 3 points. Ami Markuson and Jessica Cole- 2 points. Marcell Bruski- 1 point. January 30, 2010 Ekalaka @ Jordan The Lady Bulldogs made the long road trip to Jordan to take on the Lady Mustangs. The Lady Bulldogs started the ball game a little rocky.. Even though the Lady Bulldogs did not play too there full potential they grabbed another win 36-21. Caitlin Dalzell- 11 points. Iesha Dembo - 9 points. Jessica Cole- 4 points. Emma Guyer and Ami Markuson- 3 points. Cecile Ketchum, Marlee Nies, and Brittany Hansen- 2points. February 5 , 2010 Ekalaka vs. Northern Cheyenne The Lady Bulldogs took on the Northern Cheyenne Lady Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs remained ahead the whole first half and the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bulldogs were outscored and lost to the Lady Eagles 41-48. Jessica Co,le- 13 points. Iesha Dembo- 10 points. Caitlin Dalzell and Brittany Hansen- 6 points. Marcell Bruski, Ami Markuson, and Cecile Ketchum- 2 points.; February 6, 2010 Ekalaka @ Terry The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Terry to play the Lady Terriers. The first half was very intense with the Lady Bulldogs only trailing by a few points. In the second half, unfortunately the Lady Terriers won the ball game 43-56. Iesha Dembo- 18 points. February 11, 2010 Ekalaka vs. Wibaux The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Wibaux Longhorns for their last home game of the season. The Lady Bulldogs came out with a bang and outscored the Longhorns the first quarter. The second half was a little rocky for the Lady Bulldogs but the Lady Bulldogs won the game 42-34. Iesha Dembo- 15 points. Marlee Nies- 9 points. Brittany Hansen and Caitlin Dalzell- 6 points. Emma Guyer, Cecile Ketchum, and Marcell Bruski- 2 points. Districts February 16-19, 2010 On February 16, 2010, the Carter County Lady Bulldogs played the Jordan Mustangs in play-in action. The Lady Bulldogs came a little bit slow and trailed the whole first half. In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs picked it up and made a run and beat the Lady Mustangs 40-28. The Lady Bulldogs would then advance to play the Custer Cougars at 8 pm. On February 17, 2010, in first round action the Lady Bulldogs took on the Cuter Lady Cougars. The first quarter started a little bit rocky with the Lady Cougars outscoring the Bulldogs 16-5. In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs came alive and made the game a tad bit closer. The second half was more intense but the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Cougars 43-50. Iesha Dembo- 16 points. Marlee Nies- 9 points. Caitlin Dalzell- 5 points. Brittany Hansen and Ami Markuson- 4 points. Emma Guyer- 3 points. Marcell Bruski- 2 points. The Lady Bulldogs would advance to the lose side of the bracket. On February 18, 2010, the Lady Dogs would play the Wibaux Longhorns in loser out action. The Lady Bulldogs came out strong and beat the Lady Longhorns by 10 points. The ending score of the game was 49-39. Caitlin Dalzell- 16 points. Iesha Dembo- 14 points. Brittany Hasen- 8 points. Marlee Nies- 7 points. Ami Markuson and Marcell Bruski- 2 points. On February 19, 2010, the Lady Bulldogs played the Terry Terriers to see how would adnvace to the consolation game. The first quarter was close and the dogs were only trailing by 3 points. In the second quarter. the Terriers got away from the Dogs and outscored them 10-5. In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs got outscored and the Lady Terriers won 33-49. The Lady Bulldogs had a great season! |
